What grade levels do you include?
BSP is a K-12 school.
Do we have to live in a specific school district to enroll at BSP?
If you live anywhere in San Diego County or any surrounding county, you may enroll in BSP.
What is the tuition cost?
There is no cost. Since BSP is a public California Charter School and is funded directly by the State, curriculum and other materials are provided to you at no cost.
What curriculum can I use?
We believe that you have the right to choose the curriculum best suited for your child, taking into consideration the student’s learning style and the parent’s preferred teaching approach. BSP offers an extensive variety of curriculum and will work with any additional materials you bring to supplement your child's education.
How does the program work?
Once a month you and your child will meet with your Educational Consultant (EC) and review work from the previous month. During this meeting your EC will help you assess your child's progress and set up a plan that best meets your child's learning strengths and weaknesses. Feel free to contact your EC by phone or email throughout the month for any guidance or advice. Consider your EC your partner in establishing a learning environment that is creative, challenging and positive for both you and your child.
What kinds of group activities/onsite classes are available?
BSP students are offered many workshops, field trips, and clubs ensuring that they are afforded every opportunity to grow as a member of the community. In addition to those relationships already formed through day to day homeschooling, students are given opportunities to form positive, healthy peer relationships within the community of BSP.
What guidance/training do you offer parents?
BSP offers ongoing workshops for parents on a variety of subjects ranging from learning styles to time management. Please watch for the 2009/2010 parent workshop schedule.
Is there one best way to home school?
There is no one way to homeschool. From the Classical method to unschooling, it is our belief that each family should choose their own methodology keeping in mind the belief that it is in the nature of children to want to learn. We at BSP recognize that the homeschool journey is ever-changing; we will provide any support needed along the way.
What is the enrollment process?
At this time, BSP is accepting enrollment applications for the 09/010 and the 010/011 school year. Visit our Online Enrollment Link in the left hand column to get started.
